DEEPENINGS

Morphology of the object:

A horizontal oval-shaped vessel on a stand-ring. Its cylindrical neck rises diagonally upwards from the sides of the vessel, connected to the body by a handle that reaches under the rim of the vessel, forming a round-cornered triangle shape. Opposite the handle, a horizontally placed flat knob can be found.

Decoration:

The neck and body of the vessel, as well as the curved backline, is decorated with incised bundles of lines.

Interpretation:

The so-called askhoses were artefacts strongly connected to the religious beliefs of the community. It may not be a coincidence that this vessel was found next to another piece of pottery containing eggs, stressing the symbolic vitality and potency represented by the two vessels.
